Starting with the 2019-2020 school year, all Maine sports officials are now required to have a background check and to be fingerprinted through the Department of Education.
Because it takes about 6-8 weeks for this process, it is highly recommend all new officials take care of this requirement immediately. No officials in any sport or in any situation can be assigned to work at any Maine school without having this requirement fulfilled. If you are an employee of a Maine school district you probably have already completed this process.
BACKGROUND CHECKS are good for five years.
